Syria's first lady, Asma al-Assad, met yesterday with a group of
wounded Army soldiers as part of her wider social engagement with the Syrian
people.
The meeting, which
took place in the Syrian capital, was held with the wounded and volunteers of
the Association of the Wounded club.
Founded by former
SAA soldier Sami Melhem, the club aims at assisting wounded soldiers countywide
to take their roles in society as active members, through organizing recreational
trips and meetings.
Mrs. Assad was diagnosed
with breast cancer for which she began treatment at one of the hospitals in
Damascus.
However, the
malignant tumor didn't prevent the 'Lady of Jasmine' from carrying out her
duties. The Syrian first lady spent the ‘Eid Al-Adha holiday on Tuesday by
visiting a children’s cancer hospital in Damascus.
