On this day 4 years ago, 41 schoolchildren
were killed, more than 74 others wounded when a twin blast rocked Akrama
Elementary School in the central Syrian
city of Homs.
The first explosion occurred when
a booby-trapped car blew up outside the school just when the children were coming out. A few
minutes later, a suicide bomber blew up his vest amongst the panicked-stricken crowd.
Rebel groups in Homs claimed
responsibility for the deadly massacre, which had left scores dead and injured
(mostly children), while the remain of many victims couldn't be identified.
