Pictures: German artist dies in Damascus after fulfilling last wish

German plastic artist, Ursula Baher, died on Tuesday morning in Damascus a few days after arriving to the Syrian capital.

Ursula, 85 years old, who has been suffering from cancer for quite a while, came to Damascus as her final wish to hold an exhibition.

Ursula's wish came true when she opened her exhibition yesterday evening at Dar al-Assad for Culture and Arts.

Under the title "Rising from the Ashes", the exhibition showcases Ursula's love and passion to Syria.

“My current health condition is critical, and if I die here, I want to be buried in Syria, the land of martyrs,” said Baher.
